T20 World Cup staff attempts teaching pace bowling to Dale Steyn, hilarious video goes viral

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is leaving no stone unturned to promote the game in the United States of America. With the idea of making it a global event before the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, the cricketing governing body increased the number of teams in the ongoing competition and it has been commercially successful despite low-scoring affairs in a few matches in New York. 

Meanwhile, a lot of former cricketers have given their hand to help cricket grow in the USA as well. For instance, Dale Steyn was spotted taking a class from one of the T20 World Cup staff on how to ball like a fast bowler. In one of the viral videos, it was spotted that the staff asked Steyn not to bend his hand as it is not allowed in cricket. He also taught the former South Africa international that the ball needs to bounce once before it reaches the batter.

Steyn didn’t reveal his identity in the video. The 40-year-old is one of the greatest bowlers of all time and his fans reminded that in the comment section. He represented South Africa in 93 Test matches, 125 ODIs, and 47 T20Is and has 699 international wickets in total. He holds multiple records to his name but could never win an ICC tournament.

South Africa have a chance to fulfill their dream this time around. They defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 campaign and if the team manages to keep up with the momentum, it will be very hard for any other team to stop them. The bowlers looked ruthless in the last match, restricting Sri Lanka to just 77 runs, while the batters were in some trouble at one point but picked up a comfortable win in the end.

They are currently on top in Group D and will face the Netherlands, Bangladesh, and Nepal on June 8, 10, and 15, respectively.
