Swashbuckling Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav expressed his gratitude to fans for their support after his franchise crashed out in the race for the IPL final. Notably, the five-time winners suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans, losing by 62 runs in Qualifier 2.

Despite putting up a fight during the 234-run chase, Suryakumar’s 61 runs off 38 balls was not enough to help his side clinch the contest. Following the crushing defeat, the flamboyant batter took to his social media handle to express his gratitude and stated that his side would come back stronger in 2024.

Suryakumar top-scores for MI in IPL 2023

Despite crashing out in the race for the summit clash, the swashbuckling right-hander relished a solid campaign with the bat. For the unversed, Suryakumar top-scored for the Men in Blue and Gold, as he collected 605 runs in 16 appearances, lacing it with five fifties and one century to his account, at a terrific average of 43.21.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, skipper Rohit Sharma endured a rather lean patch throughout the course of the 16th edition. Notably, the batter recorded his joint-third-lowest tally of runs in an IPL season since his first match.

Rohit managed to get a paltry 332 runs in his 16 appearances for the franchise in the IPL 2023. His campaign included just two fifties at an underwhelming average of 20.75, with his best knock coming against DC, wherein he scored 65 off 45 balls. The five-time winners will aim to come all guns blazing in the next edition and hope for an improved campaign.
