‘Thank you for the memories’ - Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma post wholesome messages for retired teammate Shikhar Dhawan

38-year-old Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan shook the entire cricket fraternity after he announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket. Taking to social media, Dhawan made his retirement official after sharing a clip where he talked about hanging his boots.
After his retirement was made official, several stars, both former and current, took to social media and congratulated Dhawan on his retirement. Among the many stars were also veteran India batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Kohli took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and posted a heartfelt note in Dhawan’s honour. He branded the 38-year-old as one of the most dependable openers for the Indian team.
“From your fearless debut to becoming one of India's most dependable openers, you've given us countless memories to cherish. Your passion for the game, your sportsmanship and your trademark smile will be missed, but your legacy lives on. Thank you for the memories, unforgettable performances and always leading with your heart. Wishing you the best in your next innings, off the field Gabbar!” Kohli wrote on X.

Furthermore, team India skipper Rohit Sharma took to social media to congratulate Dhawan on his retirement as well. Rohit highlighted the partnership that he shared with Dhawan all the years.

Apart from Rohit and Kohli, former India head coach Ravi Shastri also took to social media to congratulate Dhawan. Shastri talked about the years that he spent coaching him.
It is worth noting that Dhawan played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is and has retired with 10,867 runs to his name, and is a true stalwart of ODI cricket.
