‘There's enough time’ - Kevin Pietersen opines there’s enough time left to play series decider between India and South Africa

The second and final Test of the series between South Africa and India was quite a whirlwind. The game turned out to be an absolute humdinger as it became the shortest-ever Test match completed in history in terms of overs bowled. The game finished within 1.5 days, with the series coming to an end as tied.

With the series being just two games long, no clear winner was decided, with the Proteas winning the first Test and India winning the second. Seeing the same situation, former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen came forward to opine that there is plenty of time for a third Test to determine the series winner. In the same vein, Pietersen opined that the players will not miss their scheduled flights home if a third Test match to determine the winner is started in Cape Town.

"There's enough time to play the third and deciding Test match to start tomorrow in Cape Town. There'll absolutely be a result in the series, and the players won't miss their scheduled flights home," Pietersen mentioned on his 'X' handle. 

India’s pacers prove too much to handle for South Africa

Speaking of the game, it was the Indian pace attack that helped the side tie the series and register a brilliant win. In the first innings, South Africa were bundled out for just 55 runs after a brilliant six-wicket haul by Mohammed Siraj. In response, the Indian team was unable to go big as well. The Proteas put in a brilliant performance with the ball in the first innings and dismissed the Indian batters for 153 runs in the first innings. 

Still trailing, South Africa got off to a brilliant start to the second innings with Aiden Markram scoring 106 runs opening the innings. However, after Markram’s inspirational knock, none of the other batters amounted to much as Jasprit Bumrah’s six-wicket haul saw the hosts bundled out for 176 runs and India won the game by seven wickets as they successfully chased down the 79-run target to level (1-1) the series.
