'There’s no guarantee' - Ashes AI bot's response as James Anderson, Stuart Broad query 'how to get Steve Smith out'
England and Australia will lock horns in first Test of Ashes 2023 from June 16.
The Ashes 2023 is round the corner as Australia and England will be locking horns from June 16 at Edgbaston. Ahead of the much-awaited series, plans and strategies are being formed in both the camps to counter the best players from the opposition.
Taking their Ashes preparations to another level, star England bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad were seen asking an AI bot about how to dismiss star Australian batter Steve Smith. The AI began by stating "getting Steve Smith out can be challenging." The bot further advised to attack Smith with bouncers and set attacking fields.
In a video shared by Sky Sports Twitter handle, the AI bot concluded by saying, "It’s worth noting that Steve Smith is an exceptional batter, so even with these strategies, there’s no guarantee of getting him out", which made Broad chuckle.
Notably, Smith is the fifth-highest run-scorer in the history of Ashes with 3044 runs in 32 matches at an average of 59.68, with 11 hundreds and 11 fifties to his name. In the last Ashes in England in 2019, the former Australian captain plundered 774 runs at an average of 110.57 in just seven innings on his comeback to Test cricket after a year’s ban.
Smith would once again want to be a thorn in England’s flesh in the upcoming series and hence their premier bowlers are leaving no stone unturned to prepare strategies to get him out cheaply.
Australia are current holders of the Ashes ‘urn’ as they hammered England 4-0 at home in the last series. The upcoming series is expected to be much more competitive with England playing Test cricket in ‘Bazball’ style under head coach Brendon McCullum. Led by Ben Stokes, the ‘Three Lions’ are on a roll as they have won 10 out of 12 Tests played last year and are gearing up to crush their oldest rivals in the Ashes.
