Star batter Marnus Labuschagne is eager to bowl in the upcoming edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25), slated to begin on November 22. Earlier in the year, captain Pat Cummins spoke on the importance of the workload management of the three pacers as he believed that Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green would cover them well. As a result, this would help the specialists recover well and play all five Tests against India.

However, with Green’s injury, things got slightly complicated. That’s when Labuschagne showed interest in filling up the role and started bowling in the Sheffield Shield. He bowled a few bouncers and managed to clinch a few wickets following which, the 30-year-old expressed the desire to bowl to Virat Kohli.

Leading to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Labuschagne was seen bowling bouncers to Cummins in the nets and later mentioned that his body is doing well and it is durable enough to continue. He talked about enjoying bowling bouncers and hoped that he convince the team management before the first Test in Perth.

“I think I have bowled 28 overs of pace in a Shield game and my workload was zero before then. So, many would say that’s a big spike. But good, my body is pretty durable. Touch wood, pretty durable. It’s something I have done from a young age," Labuschagne told the Press.

"I have always bowled pace. I would love nothing more to be that guy. But we have got to convince the Australian captain of that, so we will see. But yeah, there’s nothing more enjoyable than bowling bouncers. I love it," he further added.

Marnus is welcome to bowl: Hazlewood

Ace pacer Josh Hazlewood hilariously revealed that Marnus Labuschagne was added to one of the pace-bowling groups. Besides, he also added that the cricketer was welcome to bowl whenever he wanted to in the series against India. Only time will tell now whether he will get to have a go with the ball against the likes of Kohli and other notable Indian batters.

“He is welcome to grab the ball and bowl whenever he wants,” Hazlewood said with a cheeky smile.
