While it was a fairytale ending for Chennai Super Kings and their iconic skipper MS Dhoni, spare a thought for the losing finalists, Gujarat Titans, who were inches away from lifting their second successive IPL trophy. But it wasn't to be, thanks to Ravindra Jadeja's heroics at the death. Following their defeat, Gujarat Titans shared an endearing post via their Twitter handle.

Hardik Pandya's side finished at the top of the points table after a dominant league stage of the tournament. However, they were handed a demoralizing defeat by Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1. But the defending champions bounced back in style, defeating Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 to book their place in the final of IPL 2023.

There was no shortage of support for CSK at the Narendra Modi Stadium, largely due to the presence of their beloved skipper MS Dhoni. It is hard to believe that a losing team will be happy for the eventual winners, but it was the case for the Titans, who revealed their joy in watching Dhoni lift his fifth IPL title.

Heartbreak for Mohit Sharma after a memorable campaign

The 16th edition of the IPL has been a resounding success for everyone involved from the broadcasters to the spectators, and the final lived up to the billing as it took the last ball of this year's competition to crown the champions.

GT pacer Mohit Sharma, who has completed a full circle in his cricketing career this season, erred slightly on his final two deliveries in a sumptuous final over until then to witness Ravindra Jadeja clinch a fifth title for the Yellow Army.
