Ahead of the final Test match of his career, veteran Australian batter David Warner is struggling with quite the situation. The opener has made a plea on social media for the backpack that had his Baggy Green cap to be returned to him after it went missing.
Australia are slated to play against Pakistan in the third and final Test of their ongoing series. Both sides will face off at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on January 3 and taking to social media, Warner opined that posting about his backpack was his final resort.
"Hi all, this is my last resort, but my backpack, which contained my Baggy Green, has been taken from my luggage, which was transported to Melbourne airport and flown on @qantas to Sydney a few days ago. @qantas have said they checked their cameras and have not seen anyone open our bags and take the backpack, however they do have blind spots. If you are the person, who was either working for the company driving it to and from the airport or working for @qantas and have, by chance, just wanted the backpack, I have one for. I would be grateful if this were returned asap. Thanks," Warner mentioned in a video he posted on his Instagram handle.
According to several reports, the bag which Warner lost is understood to contain two caps. One that has worn for most of his Test matches, and one replacement cap which was provided to him. In the clip that the veteran batter shared, he opined that he would not press charges or take action if the caps were returned to him, then he would also give them the bag as a return favour.
I think there should be countrywide search right now from the Australian Government: Shan Masood
Upon seeing David Warner's request, Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood opined that the Australian government should commence a country-wide search. Moreover, he also wanted best detectives of the country to get to work and find Warner’s Test cap back.
"I think there should be a countrywide search right now from the Australian Government, we might need the best of detectives to get that back,” Masood was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
Notably, the third and final Test between Australia and Pakistan will kick off on January 3, at the renowned Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) which will be Warner's final appearance in the 'baggy greens' at his home ground.
