'This is unbelievable innings'- Rishabh Pant comes up with a four-word praise for Suryakumar Yadav's sensational century against New Zealand

Rishabh Pant might not have made his bat do the talking during the second T20I against New Zealand at the Bay Oval managing just six runs off 13 deliveries, but he did have an outstanding four-word praise for the star of the contest Suryakumar Yadav.

Surya played a stupendous knock of 111 runs off just 51 balls which was instrumental in India registering a convincing 65-run win to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. This also happened to be Suryakumar’s second T20I ton and coincidentally, both of them came in 2022 itself.

After his outstanding knock, the Mumbai cricketer was invited for an interview by the broadcasters, Prime Video to talk about his batting pyrotechnics.

“In T20, a hundred is always special but at the same time, it was really important for me to bat till the very end. Hardik was telling me to bat till the 18th or 19th over, and get to a score of 185 or so. After the end of the 16th over, we had a chat about taking it deep. It was important to maximise the last few overs. Have been doing the same things over and over again, in the nets and it's just coming off for me,” he said.

During the interview, Rishabh Pant who walked from behind came forward, hugged Yadav and said, “This is unbelievable innings”.

Suryakumar Yadav’s thunderous knock included 11 fours and seven sixes which came at a fantastic strike rate of 217.6. He single-handedly took the attack to the New Zealand bowlers just when India seemed to be on the backfoot with dismissals of a well-set Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. The visitors eventually ended posting 191/6.

The total proved to be more than enough in the end as the Indian bowlers worked in tandem to restrict the Kiwis to just 126 despite a valiant 52-ball 61 from skipper Kane Williamson.
