The 45th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 is currently underway at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where India and the Netherlands are competing. India won the toss and chose to bat first.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a strong start for the team, scoring 91 runs in the first powerplay. Shubman was dismissed when the score read 91, scoring 51 off 32 balls with three fours and four sixes. Rohit was also dismissed soon after, scoring 61 off 54 balls with eight fours and two sixes.
Virat Kohli then formed a solid partnership for the third wicket, stitching 71 runs before being dismissed for 51 runs by Roelof van der Merwe. KL Rahul then joined Iyer at the crease, and they both aggressively attacked the Dutch bowling lineup, forming an unbeaten 208-run partnership for the fourth wicket. This helped India reach a massive total of 410 runs in their 50 overs. Shreyas scored 128 off 94 balls with ten fours and five sixes, while KL scored 102 off 64 balls with 11 fours and four sixes.
Looking ahead, the Netherlands will have to chase down a challenging total of 411 to end their World Cup campaign on a high note. This task seems daunting, especially against the strong bowling lineup of the Indian team led by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami.
Here is how Twitter reacted:
The KL Rahul flick for a six has a separate fanbase. Nobody…I repeat nobody plays that shot better than him. Bottom hand taking over without changing the downswing at all. 6️⃣

Given a choice, KL Rahul would love to open in ODI. Given a choice…he might not want to don the keeping gloves too. But he understands that it isn’t about him…it about what the team wants. And he must adapt his game to it.
Something Dravid…
What a player K.L. Rahul is.
