Iyer has been riding high after a spectacular IPL season where he played pivotal in KKR's third IPL title win. In the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the 29-year-old smashed a brilliant 52 not out off just 26 balls, smashing four boundaries and three huge sixes. His heroics guided KKR to a memorable victory under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.
The all-rounder had a great 2024 season with the Kolkata-based franchise, as he ended as the third-highest run-getter for KKR with 370 runs in 15 games at an average of 46.25 and a strike rate of 158.79. In 50 IPL games, the left-hander has scored 1326 runs, including one century and 11 fifties.
Speaking of his international career, Iyer made his T20I debut for the Indian team in 2021 against New Zealand in Jaipur whereas his ODI debut came in the following year against South Africa in Paarl. In two ODIs and nine T20Is, he has scored 24 runs and 133 runs, respectively. In 20 first-class games, he has smashed 1132 runs and in 43 list A games, he has hit 1458 runs.
While the batter has been out of the Indian team for quite some time now, his recent form in the cash-rich league can surely help him get another call for the national side.
