Viacom 18 has bagged the media rights for the Women's IPL, which is set for its inaugural edition later this year. The news was confirmed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who revealed that the Mumbai-based joint venture has bagged the media rights for a whopping INR 951 crores for the next five years (2023-27).
According to reports, eight potential bidders had brought the tender for the media rights that were put on sale by the BCCI in December last year. Viacom 18, who were fighting along with some big names like Disney Star, Sony, and Zee, secured the media rights for 951 crores, meaning a match value of INR 7.09 crores for each WIPL game.
