Video of the Day: Deandra Dottin's first over double strike derails UP Warriorz chase

Deandra Dottin struck twice in the first over of UP Warriorz' run-chase to dent the hosts in Match 15 of the Women's Premier League 2025 at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday, March 3. 

Chasing 187 for victory, UP-W started in the worst manner possible with the explosive Kiran Navgire dismissed for a golden duck, departing on the second delivery of the second innings. Phoebe Litchfield pouched the thick outside edge at second slip. Four deliveries later which included a wide delivery, the WPL debutant, Georgia Voll, was bowled via a full inswinging delivery to leave UP-W in all sorts of trouble from the get-go.

Earlier in the evening, Dayalan Hemalatha was dismissed in the first over of the game. GG-W got off to a sluggish start in the powerplay, yielding only 40 in the first six overs. From there onwards, wicketkeeper-batter, Beth Mooney, and Harleen Deol combined together to steer their side to a much better position in the game.

Mooney ended up unbeaten on 96* off 59 deliveries, an innings comprising a total of 17 fours. Dottin also contributed with the bat with an eight-ball 17-run cameo at the business end, helping put up 186/5 at the end of 20 overs. Chinelle Henry ended up as the most economical bowler, conceding only 31 runs in four overs.

Coming to the outcome of the game, GG-W triumphed over the hosts by a commanding 81-run margin after a stellar display. Kashvee Gautam and Tanuja Kanwar shone with the ball with respective three-wicket hauls. This was GG-W's third victory in WPL 2025, propelling them to second on the points table.
