Deepti Sharma was dismissed for an enterprising 39-run knock in her side's clash against Gujarat Giants in Match 3 of the 2025 edition of the Women's Premier League at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday, February 16. It was a remarkable diving effort from her opposition number to get rid of Deepti to leave UP Warriorz six-down in the 15th over of their innings.

Ashleigh Gardner, stationed at mid-off, ran to her right and dived full length to hang on to a toe-ended shot by Deepti. In the process, young Priya Mishra secured her third scalp of the evening, having already dismissed the Australian duo of Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris earlier in her spell.

UP Warriorz ended up with a mere 143 on the board. Crucial runs down the order from Alana King (19* off 14) and Saima Thakor (15 off 7) added the late impetus in the innings post the dismissal of Deepti. The spin-bowling all-rounder's 27-ball knock featured six boundaries. The second-highest scorer was Uma Chetry with 24 off 27.

As for Gujarat Giants, right-arm medium pacer, Kashvee Gautam, was the most-economical bowler. She ended up conceding only 15 runs in her four-over quota, picking up one wicket. Deandra Dottin and Gardner picked up a couple of wickets apiece.

Giants regain footing after early jolts

Coming to the run-chase, the Giants were staring down the barrel at 2/2 after 1.3 overs. Grace Harris and Sophie Ecclestone were on the money straightaway, both of them striking in their first over. However, Gardner, along with Laura Wolvaardt, navigated proceedings quite positively.

The Giants won the game comfortably by six wickets with two overs to spare.
