It was a stunning effort at mid-on from Ellyse Perry which brought about the dismissal of Delhi Capital Women's skipper, Meg Lanning, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women during Match 14 of WPL 2025, played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, March 1.
It was quite evident that Meg Lanning was struggling to get going in the middle, having scored only a couple of runs in the first 11 balls. Aiming to break the shackles, Lanning aimed her swing to go big over mid-on. However, the ball struck the inner-half of her bat. It was still a half-opportunity for Perry, stationed at wide mid-on. The Australian star all-rounder, standing a few steps in front of the 30-yard circle, timed her jump to absolute perfection to hang on to the ball.

Verma, Jonassen ease past 148-run target
Lanning's dismissal was the only dismissal Bengaluru could inflict on their opponents. From that point onwards, it was all about the unbeaten 146-run stand between Shafali Verma and Jess Jonassen to seal the game for their side. Neither of the two batters let the Bengaluru bowlers settle. The combination of proactive batting and power-hitting proved to be too good for Bengaluru.
The target was never going to be enough to pose any sort of difficulty for an in-form Delhi unit. They overhauled the total in 15.3 overs, consequently solidifying their spot in the playoffs. Bengaluru's nightmarish stint at their own venue continued, with this loss being their fourth on the trot at the Chinnaswamy.
