In Match No. 10 of the ongoing WPL 2025, Delhi Capitals’ pace duo of Shikha Pandey and Marizanne Kapp wreaked havoc on Gujarat Giants’ batting line-up, restricting them to just 127/9 in their clash on Tuesday. Despite a late finish from Bharti Fulmali, Gujarat failed to post a strong total, putting up a straightforward chase for Capitals, who secured a six-wicket victory with 29 balls to spare.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the Meg Lanning-led side capitalized on a green pitch and seaming conditions. Kapp struck in the fourth over, dismissing Harleen Deol (5) and Phoebe Litchfield (0) in the same over. With Giants struggling at 16/2, Shikha further increased their woes in the very next over, sending back Beth Mooney (10) and Kashvee Gautam (2) off consecutive deliveries. Though she missed out on a hat-trick, her spell ensured the opposition were on the back foot early in the game.

Delhi win by six wickets
The Gujarat-based team witnessed a batting collapse as skipper Ashleigh Gardner (3) was bowled by young pacer Titas Sadhu, while Deandra Dottin (26 off 24) played a small cameo before falling to Annabel Sutherland. At the halfway mark, Gujarat were struggling at 60/6, staring at the possibility of being bowled out under 100.
Bharti Fulmali, however, fought back with a fine knock. She smashed two sixes, the only ones of the innings and four boundaries in her unbeaten 40 off 29 balls. Alongside Tanuja Kanwar (16), she stitched a crucial 51-run partnership for the seventh wicket, helping Gujarat cross the 100-run mark. However, a run-out ended Kanwar’s innings, and the side were eventually restricted to 127/9 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 128 for victory, the Capitals had a minor setback early on when captain Meg Lanning (3) fell cheaply. However, Shafali Verma’s 44 off 27 balls, featuring five fours and three sixes, put Delhi in a strong position. Jess Jonassen then took the onus upon herself with an unbeaten 61 off 32 balls, ensuring there were no further issues. Despite losing Jemimah Rodrigues (5) and Sutherland (1) along the way, Delhi comfortably reached 131/4 in 15.1 overs, sealing a comprehensive win.
