A moment of brilliance was witnessed courtesy Jemimah Rodrigues on the penultimate delivery of the 18th over of Gujarat Giants Women's innings during Match 17 of the WPL 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals Women. Such was the effort that it left the crowd at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow in absolute awe.
Requiring 32 off 18 deliveries in pursuit to the 178-run target set by DC Women, Deandra Dottin started off the over with a bang. In a bid to obliterate Jess Jonassen even more, Dottin ended up miscuing the hoik off a slightly more flighted delivery than the previous one towards the deep mid-wicket fence. Rodrigues rushed in off the fence, lunged forward full-stretch, and ended up latching onto the catch inches above the grass.

The splendid effort could not prevent Gujarat from emerging deserving victors by five wickets and three deliveries to spare. Coming in at No. 3, Harleen Deol anchored the chase masterfully well to end up unbeaten on 70 off 49 deliveries, also earning Player of the Match for her brilliance.
Lanning's classy 92 goes unrewarded
Interestingly, Harleen wasn't the top-scorer across both sides. Delhi's skipper, Meg Lanning, motored her way to a majestic 92-run knock off 57 deliveries. She was dismissed on the penultimate delivery of the first innings. Her superlative knock comprised 15 fours and one maximum. However, apart from her opening partner, Shafali Verma, no other batter could really contribute to the scoreboard.
