India and Pakistan are currently facing off in the 12th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match started with India winning the toss and opting to bowl first.

Despite being expensive, Siraj provided India with their first breakthrough by dismissing Abdullah Shafique. Shafique was trapped plumb in front by a cross-seam delivery that kept low. He did not waste a review and walked back to the pavilion. At this point, Pakistan's score was 41/1. After that, Hardik Pandya dismissed Imam-ul-Haq as well.

After the fall of Imam's wicket, Mohammad Rizwan came in to bat and took his time before facing the ball, which seemed to annoy Virat Kohli. Kohli was seen watching an imaginary watch on his hand and suggesting to the umpires that Rizwan was purposefully wasting time. Kohli made it clear that the Indian team should not tolerate any timing issues caused by Rizwan's actions. This incident was caught on camera and quickly went viral on social media platforms.

Shubman Gill back after recovering from dengue

As the team sheet for the match was announced, Indian fans were treated with the great news that the young star batter, Shubman Gill was all set to play in this important match. Shubman’s brilliant record at this venue makes him a real threat to any opposition team and he will be a key batter for India’s chase in this match.

He had struggled against the Pakistani pace attack in the first Indo-Pak clash in the recently concluded Asia Cup but in the second match, he smashed the Pakistan bowlers at will and showcased his real prowess. He would be eager to make an impact here as well in the most important match of the marquee event.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistan have never beaten India in the ODI World Cup. The record currently stands at 7-0 in favour of India. Taking into account the T20 World Cups as well, the record becomes 13-1 in favour of India. Pakistan will be eager to rectify this record and will be boosted by their recent successful run chase against Sri Lanka. They successfully chased down a target close to 350 runs in Hyderabad. However, India will also be riding high on confidence after their victories against Australia and Afghanistan in the tournament so far.
