The Indian team is all set to take on Australia in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Both sides will lock horns in Perth for the first Test from November 22. There have been many questions raised against team India after the side’s recent whitewash against New Zealand in their own backyard.
Rohit Sharma’s men conceded losses in all three Tests that they played against the BlackCaps recently, and going into the 2024-25, there are concerns over the side’s form. Much of India’s performance against Australia in the marquee series could come down to the form of star players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant.
Talking about the same, former India cricketer Irfan Pathan took centre stage and backed Kohli to be at the peak of his powers against the Aussies and gave reasons as to why Kohli would excel in the series.
“Why I believe Virat Kohli will excel in Australia: 1) He thrives against pace. Despite his recent dip in Test form, his numbers against pace remain exceptional. Australia’s fast and bouncy pitches will play to his strengths. 2) Kohli feeds off energy and big challenges. The Aussies will come hard at him, and there’s no bigger Test challenge than playing Australia in their backyard. This is when Kohli’s competitive spirit truly shines,” Pathan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Virat Kohli has always been a player that Australia has had to be wary of. The star batter has often demolished the Aussies’ bowling attacks, and if the veteran batter is able to find his form, he would be raring to go once more and establish his dominance down under.
It is worth noting that the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series 2024-25 would be Kohli’s fifth in Australia. The ace batter has played 13 Tests in Australia and has scored 1,352 runs at an average of 54.08. He would look to put in another good showing in the upcoming series.
