A second-string Indian side led by Shikhar Dhawan brushed aside South Africa to claim a resounding 2-1 series victory, while the T20 contingent geared up for the impending T20 World Cup in Australia. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli shared a new look with his fans on social media ahead of India's second warm-up game against Western Australia in Perth.
The Indian batting ace, who has rejuvenated his batting form since his magnificent ton against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup, is renowned for his suave on and off the field. A superstar on the pitch, Kohli is quite sincere about his looks and elegance as well. His latest Instagram story, where he is seen donning a new stylish trim, is a testament to that.
Harshal Patel lauds Kohli for reading his trademark deliveries
Kohli has performed at his optimum levels since his ton in the Asia Cup with a couple of match-winning knocks. His 63 from 48 balls in the series decider against Australia last month was crucial for India's triumph in the contest. His compatriot, Harshal Patel, who is known for his bamboozling slower cutters, lauded the batter, saying that his trademark deliveries are useless against his RCB teammate.
"These slower deliveries are more effective when people are trying to muscle you. For someone like Virat, whenever I've played against him, he steps out and makes it a full toss and plays it through midwicket. If he gets good bat on the ball, he is going to get a boundary between long-on and midwicket or he is going to get a double. And when someone plays that delivery like that, you have to adapt," Harshal said on The Cricket Monthly on ESPNcricinfo.
India will need the veteran cricketer at his very best in the upcoming T20 World Cup as they are hoping to break their duck in ICC tournaments. The Men in Blue have failed to lift a major trophy since their Champions Trophy haul in 2013 under former skipper MS Dhoni.
