Batting megastar Virat Kohli and former England skipper Kevin Pietersen have come out in support of Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo after he parted ways with Manchester United following a controversial interview that witnessed him criticizing the club’s manager Erik ten Hag. The club in retaliation reportedly decided to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
During the interview, Ronaldo also spoke about the ill-treatment meted out to him by the ‘Red Devils’ chiefs and at the same time mentioned that he felt betrayed by the club. He had given this interview to British journalist Piers Morgan prior to joining the Portugal camp for the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Kevin Pietersen made it clear that it was indeed a big letdown from Manchester United to not even try to understand and address Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal grievances.
“If what he said is true about them not believing what’s been happening with this family, I can’t say whether it’s true or not, he says it is true, that’s almost unforgivable,” said Pietersen while speaking to Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“He is a human at the end of the day, yes he’s super famous, yes he’s worth hundreds of millions of dollars, he’s achieved it because he’s amazing at what he does,” the South Africa-born cricketer added.
Meanwhile, Kevin Pietersen went on to post this interview on Instagram and what really stood out here is that Virat Kohli happened to like this post which can be assumed that even the batting icon has lent out his support to the Portugal captain.
Kohli has considered Cristiano Ronaldo to be an inspiration for him in terms of maintaining high fitness standards and has praised the football star on various occasions.
On Tuesday, November 22, Manchester United officially went on to confirm that Cristiano Ronaldo has left the club by a ‘mutual agreement’ and with ‘immediate effect’ and will not be returning to the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ after Portugal’s World Cup campaign.
