Virat Kohli’s jersey sold for INR 40 lakhs at KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty's charity auction

In a heartfelt initiative, star India batter KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty recently took to social media to announce that they were hosting a ‘Cricket for Charity’ auction aimed at supporting the Vipla Foundation's mission, which is to give quality education to children in need.

The auction was held on Friday, August 23, and it saw many big names from the world of cricket put their memorabilia up for bid. He had recently shared a clip with his wife in which he announced the charity. 

Rahul had highlighted what the foundation means to him on a personal level, as it was started by his grandmother, urging all of his fans to spread the word about the charity and the auction.

“Join Athiya Shetty and me for “Cricket for a Cause:To benefit Vipla Foundation”. Bid on memorabilia from legendary cricketers and support hearing-impaired and intellectually disabled children. Register for the auction at http://pundoles.com. Let's make a difference together!” Rahul tweeted. 

Among the highlights of the auction was star Indian batter Virat Kohli’s jersey. The jersey collected a staggering amount of INR 40 lakh. Furthermore, as per reports, the entire auction proved to be a huge success. A total of 1.93 crores were accumulated in the auction.

Apart from Kohli’s jersey, his batting gloves proved to be a huge draw as well, being sold for INR 28 lakhs. Rohit Sharma’s bat was another star item, going for 24 lakhs.

Apart from Kohli and Rohit, former India skipper MS Dhoni made a significant contribution to the auction. Adding his bat, which was sold for INR 13 lakhs. Former India batter and head coach Rahul Dravid also sold his bat for INR 11 lakh.
