The cricketing fraternity skipped a heartbeat when the news broke about Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's horrific car crash on Friday morning. However, the 25-year-old managed to escape without sustaining any fatal injuries and is in a stable condition. Former Indian cricketer and NCA chief VVS Laxman has expressed gratitude towards the bus driver who rushed in to help the injured cricketer at the spot.

Rishabh Pant met with a horrific accident on Friday morning after his car collided with a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. He was traveling alone and was on his way to surprise his mother for the New Year. After the collision, the southpaw managed to escape through the car window as the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

However, the 25-year-old had sustained severe wounds that restricted his movement. That is when, Sushil Kumar, a bus driver for Haryana Roadways, took the injured cricketer to a safer place away from the car and wrapped him in a bedsheet as he was bleeding profusely from his wounds. Sushil then called the ambulance and even tried to contact Rishabh's mother at his request. Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman took to Twitter to thank Kumar for his heroic actions that played a huge role in saving the cricketer's life.

Pant is in a stable condition and his brain and spine MRI scan results were also normal. However, the explosive batter is likely to miss out on a major chunk of next year's action for India and his IPL franchise after sustaining a ligament injury in his right knee. He is slated to undergo plastic surgery for the treatment of his lacerated wounds and abrasions.
