Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been garnering widespread criticism after the vital Champions Trophy 2025 clash between Australia and South Africa was washed out without a toss on Tuesday, February 25, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif lashed out at PCB, accusing them of inappropriately using ICC funds. The ground wasn't sufficiently covered despite the heavy rain.
Taking to 'X' (formerly Twitter), Kaif posted a picture of the rain-soaked Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, slamming the insipid arrangements.
"It's a shame that the Rawalpindi ground isn't fully covered. Such an important match - South Africa vs Australia - might go down the drain because no one addressed this issue. Was the ICC money utilised wisely by hosts?" Kaif posted.
The image posted by Kaif showed minimal covers on the Rawalpindi ground, with only the pitch and surrounding parts under protection.

Australia and South Africa had to be content with one point each from the game. The Proteas sit at the top of the table with three points from two games. Australia also have the same number of points from as many games but their net run-rate of +0.475 is way behind that of South Africa's +2.140.

Only one more game is set to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Pakistan and Bangladesh, who have already been eliminated, will lock horns on Thursday, February 27. Meanwhile, England and Afghanistan will square off in a virtual knockout clash in Group B in Lahore on Wednesday, February 26. The Champions Trophy is gradually heading to its business end as teams are jostling for spots in the semi-finals.
