Wasim Akram reacts to Nasser Hussain’s hard-hitting verdict on Pakistan cricket

Pakistan Cricket has been heavily discussed for the last few months. Coaches, players, skippers—everything has changed. However, the state of Pakistan is not improving despite all the changes in personnel and backroom staff. Recently, Pakistan lost a Test series to Bangladesh in their own backyard and then lost the first Test of the ongoing series against England despite scoring a mammoth 556 in the first innings.

Former England cricketer Nasser Hussain has opened up on the entire situation and and opined that the players are not to be blamed for the performances, but the cricket board. It is worth noting that after losing the first Test against England, Pakistan made a slew of changes, dropping Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah from the squad ahead of the second Test.

"The issue is not Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, or Naseem Shah. The issue is behind the scenes in the way Pakistan cricket runs. In the paper, I saw there were 26 different selectors; in another, it said 27. Nobody can keep count. How many have England had? Two or three, maybe. But if you keep changing selectors, coaches, captains-constantly shuffling leadership-it's impossible to plan ahead. No successful business or sports team works that way. When you operate with short-term thinking, you show up unprepared, and by the time you lose the first Test, you're already scrambling for solutions," Hussain said in a conversation with Michael Atherton.

Reacting to his remarks, former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram took to his X account and voiced his agreement. “I think finally boys are on too something here,” Akram tweeted. 

It is worth noting that Pakistan lost the first Test against England in Multan by an innings and 47 runs to go 0-1 down in the three-match series. They will take on the visitors in Multan in the second Test from October 15.
