Former England skipper Michael Vaughan and former India opener Wasim Jaffer recently engaged in a humorous exchange on social media.

The conversation began with India's recent disappointing performance in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, where they lost the series 2-0. This series marked the Men in Blue's first ODI match since their heartbreaking loss to Australia in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final.

Vaughan asked Jaffer about India's recent ODI series result against Sri Lanka during a Q&A session on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

"Hi, Wasim .. What was the recent ODI series result in Sri Lanka? I have been away and missed it. Hope all is well," the former English skipper wrote on X.

Jaffer responded with a clever answer, bringing up England's poor Ashes record in Australia. "I'll put it in Ashes terms for you Michael. Ind won as many games in that series as the Tests Eng have won in Aus in last 12 years," Jaffer responded.

Wins and losses are part of the game: Wasim Jaffer

The former India opener had previously expressed worry not about the series loss itself but about India's limited ODI exposure before the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

"Wins and losses are part of the game. However, it's a point of concern that India has just 3 ODIs before the Champions Trophy," Jaffer wrote.

The series against the island nation saw India struggle against spin bowling, with Dunith Wellalage's five-wicket haul in the third ODI being particularly damaging. Avishka Fernando's 96-run knock for the hosts in the same match sealed India's fate in the series.
