Watch: Akash Ambani shakes hands with RCB management after they refuse to use RTM card for Will Jacks

Interesting scenes unfolded at the mega auction for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League as Akash Ambani, owner of the Mumbai Indians, went over to the table of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru management after the latter did not use their Right To Match (RTM) card for their now-former player, Will Jacks.

MI's management had taken their time before raising their paddle for Jacks, whose base price was INR 2 crore. The Punjab Kings and MI were seen to be in a tussle for the hard-hitting all-rounder, who made his debut in the Indian Premier League in the 2024 edition. At a price of INR 5.25 crore, PBKS drifted away and it was MI who finally bagged Jacks. Ahead of the auction and even during the event in Jeddah, there were quite a lot of expectations from the management of RCB to use their RTM card for Jacks, but they did not.

After being congratulated by head coach, Mahela Jayawardene, and mother, Nita Ambani, Akash went over to the table at which the decision-makers of RCB were seated to shake hands with a few of their stakeholders, which also included Director of Cricket of the franchise, Mo Bobat. Akash, understandably, was all smiles at securing Jacks' services in what can be quite definitely called a steal deal for the joint-most successful franchise.

MI recruit Reece Topley

As the mega auction for IPL 2025 continues to dazzle in Saudi Arabia, it has also been finalized that yet another English player, Reece Topley, has been acquired by MI. MI's bid was the first and final for the left-seamer.

Topley was sold at his base price of INR 75 lakh. RCB did not use the RTM card for him as well. Topley played only five games for RCB in the two seasons he was there.
