Bangladesh have found themselves in a spot of bother in the first innings with the bat against India in Chennai. Taking on the home team in the first Test, Bangladesh conceded 376 runs in the first innings and came out to bat in the early stages of Day 2.

However, the side quickly succumbed to team India’s excellent bowling attack. Opener Shadman Islam departed for just two runs in the first over, but it was the spell of Akash Deep that troubled Bangladesh.

Coming out to bowl the ninth over of the first innings, Akash Deep dismissed Zakir Hasan on the very first ball of the over. Bowling at the right length, Akash Deep angled the ball into the stumps as Zakir Hasan was beaten on the inside and was dismissed for just three runs.

Furthermore, he followed it up with another wicket on the very next delivery of the over. With an almost identical ball to Mominul Haque, Akash Deep managed to rattle the stumps once more, taking his second wicket of the day, dismissing Mominul for a duck.

Bangladesh lose three wickets before Lunch

Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh has been a roller coaster ride for the visitors. Despite limiting India to a score of 376 runs in the first innings after Jadeja and Ashwin looked set on the crease, Bangladesh have failed to get off to the best of starts.

By the time of Lunch, the visitors scored 26 runs and lost three wickets in the process. Trailing by 350 runs, the side will hope for an improved showing post-lunch and get some runs onto the scoreboard. On the other hand, India will aim to keep taking wickets at regular intervals to keep the pressure mounting.
