A light-hearted cricket match between MMembersof Parliament highlights the importance of Tuberculosis awareness.
Two former Sports ministers of India had a face-off against one another during an exhibition match played between the Lok Sabha Speaker XI and the Rajya Sabha Chairman XI as Kiren Rijju bowled to Anurag Thakur.
A video of the game has been going viral where quite interestingly, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Rijiju cleaned up the ex-BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) president Thakur. However, after getting bowled, as Thakur started to walk back towards the pavilion, the umpire deemed the ball as a "no ball" in the context of Rijiju overstepping the crease mark. In the follow up, Thakur not only got a reprieve but went on to score a sensational (111 runs) century. As a result, Thakur's knock proved a match-winning one as Lok Sabha Speaker XI beat the Rajya Sabha Chairman XI by a huge margin of 73 runs.
For the unversed. the game of cricket is often considered like a religion in India and there have been plenty of instances in the past where renowned celebrities and public figures have enjoyed the game while squaring off against themselves. Tournaments like CCL might not showcase the same amount of professional prowess as we see in International Cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL), however, the exhibition games do give the cricket fans some entertaining moments from time to time.

Members of Parliament played cricket to raise awareness for Tuberculosis
Meanwhile, speaking of the match, team Lok Sabha Speakers XI was led by Anurag Singh Thakur while the second team, Rajya Sabha Chairman XI was Captained by Kiren Rijiju. The game was a friendly charity event which was organized to create awareness for Tuberculosis.

What made the Rijiju-Anurag moment viral was the fact that the latter had an experience of playing first-class cricket for Himachal Pradesh state against Jammu and Kashmir in November 2000. Fascinatingly enough, this was the only game of his professional cricket career while the President of the HPCA. Later on, he sat at the helm by becoming the BCCI president as well. To see him getting bowled by Rijiju who has no professional cricket experience was truly one of the shocking moments of the charity event. This was a great event which was held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
