India defeated Australia by 295 runs in the first Test and will be confident of their chances to seal the five-match series against the hosts. However, Australia bundled India for only 36 runs when the two teams played a Day and Night Test. The conditions will be challenging for the visitors, especially given Australia’s track record in Pink ball Tests but there’s optimism in the camp as they are eager to make it 2-0.

Captain Rohit will make his return to the playing XI, replacing Devdutt Padikkal for the second Test but there’s doubt about Shubman Gill. The youngster is in much better shape but it’s still unclear if he will recover in time for the second game. In his absence, KL Rahul can bat at number three and Jurel can continue to bat down the order. However, in case Gill is deemed fit, Rahul may have to make room for his comeback.

Australia, in the meantime, added Tasmania all-rounder Beau Webster for the second Test. There are concerns regarding Mitchell Marsh’s fitness and Webdster is expected to replace him in the playing XI.
