WATCH: Azam Khan stares angrily at fans after golden duck against USA, video goes viral
Nosthush Kenjige picked up the wicket of Azam Khan.
Azam Khan failed to open his tally in the match against United States of America (USA) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas in match no. 11 of the T20 World Cup 2024. Batting first, Pakistan lost a few early wickets but Babar Azam and Shadab Khan’s partnership stabled the situation until Nosthush Kenjige came back into the attack in the 10th over of the match. The spinner dismissed Shadab for 40 runs off 25 balls and on the next delivery, he got the better of Azam.
The 25-year-old failed to judge the ball as it went on to hit his pads. The umpire gave out after a strong appeal but Azam decided to review it after consulting with skipper Babar, who was at the other end. The DRS went in favour of the bowling team, as it was the umpire’s call in the replay. With that, the stumper-batter had to walk back to the pavilion for a golden duck.

While getting inside the dressing room, a section of seated fans called out Azam, which spoiled his mood. The batter stared angrily at the fans before answering their criticism. Irfan Pathan, who was at the commentary box noted the incident and stated that the cricketer should have shown his anger on the field and not on the fans.

“It felt like he was being very casual and after getting out, he looked very angry. Maybe someone said something to him. He should have shown this anger during the match but instead, he was angry with fans,” Pathan was quoted as saying on air.
Meanwhile, Babar made 44 runs off 43 balls and towards the fag end, Shaheen Shah Afridi smashed 23* runs off 16 balls to help Pakistan post 159 runs on the board. A better performance was expected on a good surface from Pakistan but credit goes to USA bowlers, who were on target in Dallas. They picked wickets at regular intervals to keep the Men in Green under check, and would be happy with their effort.
