Watch: Billionaire Mukesh Ambani applauds Abhishek Sharma for Wankhede century against England in 5th T20I
Abhishek made his century in just 37 balls to become the second-fastest centurion for India in T20Is.
Star opener Abhishek Sharma was on fire in the fifth T20I of the ongoing series against England. The electrifying game was played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium of Mumbai, and had a number of public figures in attendance at the venue apart from star cricketers featuring in the summit clash of the series.
Owner of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani, was also present in the stands, and he chose a perfect day to watch a game of cricket, as Abhishek Sharma put up a brilliant show with the bat. Sharma reached his hundred off just 37 balls, becoming the second-fastest centurion for India in T20 internationals. Ambani, who also owns the IPL team Mumbai Indians, was seen giving a standing ovation to Abhishek Sharma for his blitzkrieg against the Three Lions.
The moment of Ambani's applause went instantly viral all over social media, and fans as excited as Ambani, took no time to affect the virality of the moment across platforms. Popular Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, was also in attendance, and his reaction to the knock was similar to that of the veteran business tycoon.
Speaking more about Abhishek's knock, the left-handed batter was awarded Player of the Match for his all-round display, where he not only hit a staggering 135 runs off just 54 balls, but also picked up a couple of wickets in the only over he bowled, which helped India manage a brilliant 150-run win over Jos Buttler-led side.
"It's a special hundred, coming for the country, always a great feeling. When I see it's my day, I always try to go from the first ball. And the way the coach and the captain have treated me from the first day. They've always wanted this intent, they've always backed me. When the opponents are bowling 140, 150-plus, you have to be ready a little earlier. Just react to the ball and play my shots. When you're hitting a world-class bowler over the covers [off Archer], it's aways great, but I really liked the shots against Adil Rashid as well. Probably he [mentor Yuvraj Singh] should be happy today. He's always wanted me to bat into the 15th, 20th over, and I've tried to implement that," he said at the post-match presentation.
