The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between South Africa and Afghanistan saw an animated moment when ace pacer Kagiso Rabada dismissed Ibrahim Zadran with a brilliant delivery, sending the Afghan batter back to the pavilion with a fiery send-off.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Proteas made full use of a batting-friendly pitch, posting a total of 315/6. The innings was built around a brilliant century by Ryan Rickelton, who smashed 103 off 106 balls. Captain Temba Bavuma (58) and Rassie van der Dussen (52) provided crucial contributions, while Aiden Markram’s unbeaten 52 off 36 balls gave the side a late finish.
Chasing 316, Afghanistan faced early challenges as South African pacers exploited the conditions perfectly. Rabada, in particular, was consistent with his pace and lengths. Zadran looked to be settling in and had played a few confident shots, but Rabada’s bowling did nOt allow him to feel comfortable at the crease.
The incident occurred in the 10th over when the South African bowled a 148 km/h delivery. Zadran, backing away to create room, completely misjudged the line and missed the ball, which crashed into the middle stump. The right-arm pacer was all fired up and gave the batter a fiery send-off on his way back as Zadran's innings ended after adding 17 off 29 balls.

With Zadran’s dismissal, Afghanistan’s hope to chase the massive target took a beating. The wickets continued to fall as South Africa’s pace attack, continued to dismantle the Afghan batting lineup. Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi also chipped in with crucial breakthroughs, ensuring that Afghanistan remained on the backfoot throughout the chase.
