Dhruv Jurel took an awe-inspiring one-handed catch to dismiss Musheer Khan on Day 3 of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 fixture between India A and India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Rajasthan Royals wicketkeeper-batter continued to impress with his glovework in the first-round clash.

India A handed a sizeable first innings lead of 90 runs to their 'B' mates on Saturday, September 7, after being bowled out for 231. Shubman Gill-led India A needed to come out strongly with the ball and they managed to do so, thanks to their new-ball bowlers - Khaleel Ahmed and Akash Deep. The former gave the initial breakthrough as he dismissed the dangerous Yashasvi Jaiswal for nine. The southpaw was strangled down the leg-side as Jurel took a fine low catch. However, his catch to dismiss the first innings' centurion, Musheer, was even better.

Akash bowled a delivery from over the wicket to the right-handed batter and it slanted in with the angle. Musheer tried to flick it off his hips but only managed to get an inside edge that went quickly to the left of Jurel. The 23-year-old was swift with his footwork before putting in a full-stretch dive to grab the ball in his left mitt. This was a huge wicket in the context of the game as Musheer could have been tough to dismiss if he would have got his eye in.

Rishabh Pant races to half-century in 34 balls

After dismissing Musheer cheaply, he went on to bag the wicket of his Bengal teammate Abhimanyu Easwaran. India B were in a precarious position at 22/3, only leading by 112 runs. However, Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant played counter-attacking cricket to thwart the India A bowlers. The former was dismissed for a 36-ball 46 as Avesh Khan broke an entertaining 72-run stand that came off just 56 balls.

Pant, however, went about showing his full repertoire of strokes as he slammed a half-century off just 34 balls. The wicketkeeper-batter hit nine fours and a solitary six during his knock and would want to convert his half-century into a three-figure score. Pant and Sarfaraz's blitzkrieg have helped India B take their second innings lead beyond 200.
