Indian Team after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 indulged in a victory parade in Mumbai on July 4. India captain, Rohit Sharma took to his social media account to let fans know about the parade. As a result, a sea of fans occupied the Marine Drive stretch in Mumbai and the drone view of the sight is going viral. The Indian team was travelling in a special open-air bus fans converged from every possible angle to have a glimpse of the champions.

This was India’s first ICC trophy since 2013 and the first T20 World Cup Trophy after 2007. Rohit became the only Indian captain after MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev to lay hands on a World Cup trophy. Before coming to Mumbai, the Men-In-Blue touched down in Delhi from Barbados early in the morning on June 4. They met the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi around 11 am and flew down to Mumbai.

We both have been trying this for so long: Kohli

Virat Kohli was part of the Indian team that won the 2011 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium and Rohit was dropped ahead of the tournament. But the Indian opener debuted for India in the T20 World Cup 2007 and was part of the champion side. The duo announced retirement from T20Is after the win and Virat expressed his emotions and uttered what the victory meant for him and Rohit.

"Honestly, I  could not connect with the emotions of the senior players at that point of time (2011 World Cup glory). I was like, I don't understand why they were crying. For me, it felt like yeah, we won the World Cup it's as easy as that. I was 22 or 23. But now it is a different feeling,” said Kohli in his speech during the victory parade.

"Rohit has played for so long as well. We both have been trying this for so long... trying our hardest when I was captain. He is a senior player in the team now. He's captain. I'm one of the senior players in the team. The only aim was to win India World Cup,” he added.
