WATCH: Fans dressed as Star Wars characters Stormtroopers and Darth Vader captivate Brisbane Test; video goes viral
Star Wars characters bring Joy to cricket fans during the third BGT 2024-25 Test played between Australia and India in Brisbane.
The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) being played between Australia (AUS) and India (IND) is in full swing as the sides battle with the bat and the ball on Day 2 in Brisbane. Amid some entertaining cricket by Travis Head (152 runs) and a comeback knock by Steve Smith (101 runs), the match saw some unexpected twists as the fans came up with a fancy-dress kind of competition.
Notably, during the third Test being held at the iconic Gabba, some Starwars fans who are often dubbed as Stormtroopers aka ‘Gabbatroopers’ marked their presence with their gleeful chivalry by being dressed in the renowned soldier characters from the iconic movie series. However, for the unversed, these characters are not actual soldiers from the parallel world nor have they found any villains to tussle with as the iconic Hollywood movie showcased over the years.
In fact, the other day, the International Cricket Council (ICC) also posted some images of the Star Wars fans along with the famous character named, Darth Vader. As a result, this has surely changed the mood of the crowd along with the game after witnessing some hostile booing towards the Indian pacer, Mohammed Siraj.
Though there is no direct historical connection between the Stormtroopers and cricket, these fans have thronged in past during The Ashes games which are played between Australia and their arch-rivals, England.

Head-Smith put up over 200 runs stand, Bumrah claims another fifer
Meanwhile, speaking of the third Test, after losing Day 1 with hardly any cricket played, Australia are currently in a commanding position. Travis Head continued his supreme batting against India and slammed yet another century. Interestingly, this also ended his run drought at the Gabba. On the other hand, Steve Smith too ended his lean patch and scored a century. After losing the openers early, the Aussies fought back hard before the second new ball did the trick for the visitors.
