The Paris Olympics 2024 are all set to start on July 26th, and the athletes from India hold the hopes of billions of fans from the country. Ahead of the event, star India batter Virat Kohli has come forward and wished the athletes luck for the mega event. 

In a clip shared on Kohli’s official X account, the star batter gave his best wishes. In the clip, he shared his thoughts about what used to be preconceived notions about India as a country and how sport has played a big role in changing that mindset. 

“There was a time when the world knew India as a country of snake charmers and elephants but it is not so anymore. Now we are the world's largest democracy and a hub of information technology. We are known for cricket and Bollywood, start-up unicorns and a rapidly growing economy. Now what will be the next big thing for this great country? When we win more and more gold, silver and bronze medals,” Kohli said in the clip.

Furthermore, Virat Kohli talked about how every fan in the country will cheer on the athletes in the Olympics 2024, and how everyone is hoping to see India win more and more medals in the mega event. 

“Now what is the big thing for this great nation? Well, it will be more gold, more silver and bronze. Our brothers and sisters have gone to Paris and are hungry for medals. Billions of us will watch them, nervous and excited. Our athletes strut their feet on the track, field and in the ring. Every neighbourhood, every corner of India will hear the chants of India, India, India resounding,” Kohli said.
