Watch: Glenn Maxwell chops on Haris Rauf delivery to extend poor form
After scoring a duck in the first ODI, Maxwell was dismissed for 16 in the second one.
Star Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell failed to go big once again as he was dismissed cheaply in the second ODI of the ongoing three-game series against Pakistan. Both the teams locked horns in the second fixture at the Adelaide Oval on November 8.
Australia, coming in to bat first, were undone for a paltry 163 in 35 overs after a batting collapse as Pakistan bowlers built on their form from the first clash and put in an excellent performance. Australia found themselves in a precarious position at 129/6 when tar all-rounder Glenn Maxwell stood at the crease. Facing Haris Rauf in the 28th over. Maxwell tried to pull the delivery, however, he ended up chopping the ball onto his stumps to be dismissed for 16 off 21 as the pacer took his fourth wicket.
Speaking of the game between Australia and Pakistan, the clash began with Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk opening the innings and scoring 19 and 13, respectively. Australia kept losing regular wickets with Steve Smith's 35 being the highest score. Marnus Labuschagne departed for six runs while Aaron Hardie scored. Inglis, Hardie, Maxwell and Pat Cummins all got starts but failed to convert.
Meanwhile, Rauf was the wrecker-in-chief for the Men in Green with five wickets to his name. He was well assisted by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who took three wickets, and Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain, who took one wicket each.
Pakistan had lost the first game, a low-scoring thriller, by two wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to go 0-1 down. The third and final ODI of the series will be played at Perth Stadium on November 10.
