New Zealand's Glenn Phillips once again proved why he is considered one of the most exceptional fielders in modern-day cricket. During the second day of the first Test match between New Zealand and England at Hagley Oval, Phillips plucked a brilliant one-handed catch that changed the course of the game.

During England's first innings, Tim Southee was bowling the 53rd over when Ollie Pope attempted a cut shot that looked destined for a boundary. Phillips took a huge jump horizontally to his right, stretching out one hand to pluck the ball out of thin air. Pope, who had been looking solid at the crease, but Phillips' emphatic catch ended his 77-run innings.

Meanwhile, in the game, the hosts had earlier been restricted to 348 runs, with Phillips himself contributing a crucial 58 runs. England's response saw the top-order struggle with Zak Crawley and Joe Root both departing without scoring, leaving the score at 45 for three.

However, the partnership between Pope and Harry Brook got the side back into the game with the duo stitching together a 145-run stand. While Brook continued his impressive form, reaching a well-deserved century and finishing the day at 132. By the end of Day 2, England's score stood at 319/5    and had reduced New Zealand's lead to just 29 runs.
