WATCH: Ground staff uses ladder to retrieve ball after Rishabh Pant’s monstrous six; video goes viral
Pant hit Webster for a six in the 46th over.
The Indian team kicked off the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) at the Sydney Cricket Ground, on Friday, January 3. The clash began with the visitors coming in to bat first, and as has been the case throughout the series, the side’s top order failed to go big once again.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul departed for 10 and 4 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Shubman Gill added 20 runs on the board with Virat Kohli scoring 17. With four wickets down, star batter Rishabh Pant has been looking to stabilise the innings for his side.
Known for his aggressive batting, Rishabh Pant quickly went viral when he hit Australia’s Beau Webster for a massive six. On the third delivery of the 46th over, Pant skipped down the track and launched Webster’s delivery for a straight six. The ball went so far that the ground staff had to use a ladder to retrieve the ball. The clip of the same has been going viral all over social media.

Rishabh Pant departs for 40
After the Indian top-order’s failure to perform in the first innings of the game, Rishabh Pant attempted to put in a good showing. The star batter, after subpar performances behind him, looked to improve, and he did look to be in the flow in Sydney.

However, after a glimpse of hope, Pant was sent packing to the pavilion by Scott Boland. The ace batter departed for a score of 40 runs in 98 deliveries. It is worth noting that Team India made the decision to drop Rohit Sharma for the fifth Test, and despite making the change in their batting lineup, the visitors seem to be struggling in Sydney.
