Team India’s batting woes continued in the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) at the Gabba after the top order failed yet again against Australia. Notably, the Indian batters have faced a shot selection conundrum, especially outside the off-stump channel. A lot of issues are being faced by the top Indian batters in the series who have not looked at their best in the series so far.

Top batters like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill failed to make much of a difference. However, after getting out cheaply in the first innings, Kohli and Gill decided to practice in the nets and make amends for the second innings while the Brisbane Test was still on.

Despite the poor batting show by the visitors so far, the former India spinner and 2011 World Cup winner, Harbhajan Singh attended the practice session to monitor the behind-the-scenes moments of the star India batters. In the same vein, he shared his two cents on what possibly the batters are trying to do in the nets and whether they can still gain back their lost form for a possible second innings in the ongoing Test.

“The more you play, the better you get and Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli will hope when they come out to play in the next innings for India that they can get a big daddy 100 for their team,” said Harbhajan while exclusively speaking on Star Sports while watching the net practice session.

India still struggling despite the resilience of Jadeja

Meanwhile, speaking of the Brisbane Test, Team India are trying to avoid a follow-up situation after they failed to spend enough time in the crease. However, in the middle order, the star Indian all rounder Ravindra Jadeja showed some resilience with his 77-run knock off123 balls, before getting out in an attempt to score some quick runs to get past the follow-on total after the tea session.

Currently, India are 215/9 after 67 overs of play with pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Akashdeep occupying the crease. The visitors still need 26 runs to get past the follow-on situation after Bumrah sumptuously hooked Pat Cummins for a six in the 68th over off a vicious bouncer.
