WATCH: Harry Brook, Brydon Carse's respectful gesture for India captain Rohit Sharma

The Nagpur ODI between India and England, played at the VCA Stadium, saw the hosts go 1-0 up in the three-match series. The Indian team won with four wickets to spare and 68 balls still left into the chase, as the teams will now clash in Cuttack for the second game of the series.

After the Nagpur game ended, players from both the teams gathered for a handshake, and two of the English players created a moment of respect for the India captain and star cricketer Rohit Sharma. While shaking hands with Rohit, Harry Brook and Brydon Carse took off their caps to show a gesture of gratitude and admiration for towards the senior most player in the opposition side, who also has three ICC trophies under his belt.

Rohit shook hands and dearly met both the English players before getting ready for the post-match presentation. Star batter Virat Kohli, who missed out the game due to a sore right knee, also stepped onto the field for a customary moment after the match ended.

For the unversed, the Men in Blue skipper was satisfied with the win, despite being underwhelming on individual front with the bat. After his dismissal, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel made crucial half-centuries that sailed India through to the finishing line, getting them past the target with utmost ease. Rohit gave credit to the trio as well as to the bowlers who helped them contain the English batters within 50 overs.

"Pretty happy because we knew we were coming after a long time to this format. We wanted to quickly regroup and understand what is to be done. Didn't start off well with their openers putting pressure on us, but the way we came back was superb. This is a slightly longer format where you have time to come back. When things start to go away from you, it doesn't mean it will keep going away. Credit to the bowlers, everyone chipped in. It was important for us to keep us going, we took wickets at crucial time, the energy on the field was brilliant as well," said Rohit.

[Axar at No. 5] We want a lefty in the middle, it is simple. We know they have a couple of spinners who are going to bowl into the left-handers, and we wanted one out there. Axar is an improved batter in the last couple of years, we got to see that today. We needed a partnership and Gill and Axar batted really well [Goal ahead of the Champions Trophy] Nothing specific, overall as a team I want to make sure we keep on doing the right things. Try and tick every box there is to be ticked in bowling and batting. Did that pretty much though I felt we shouldn't have lost the wickets at the end," the Nagpur-born ended.
