Imad Wasim's lacklustre fielding display in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024) encounter between the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and Barbados Royals didn't impress his teammates or the commentators.
The incident took place on the first ball of the 14th over at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, North Sound. Mohammad Amir bowled a short ball, which Quinton de Kock ramped fine over the wicketkeeper's head. Wasim, who was fielding at deep third man, casually jogged towards the ball. However, the all-rounder couldn't win the race as the de Kock got himself a boundary.
This surprised the fans as well as the players and Amir was furious with Imad Wasim's effort. The Royals were well on course to win the match when the incident happened but that can't be used as an excuse to defend Wasim's lack of commitment on the field.

Obed McCoy was the pick of the bowlers for Barbados as he finished with figures of 3/31. Meanwhile, Maheesh Theekshana and Jason Holder chipped in with two wickets apiece.

In reply, Barbados got off to a rollicking start as de Kock and Rahkeem Cornwall added 80 runs inside seven overs. After the latter departed for an entertaining 20-ball 34, de Kock and Shamarh Brooks took their team home with nine wickets and 27 balls to spare. The Proteas wicketkeeper-batter finished unbeaten on 87 off 45 balls, hitting nine fours and five sixes.
Antigua and Barbuda suffered their third straight defeat and will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they take on Saint Lucia Kings on Wednesday, September 4. Meanwhile, Barbados Royals will lock horns with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Saturday, September 7.
