Watch: Indian cricket team touches down in Lucknow for crucial World Cup clash against England

The Indian Cricket Team arrived in Lucknow on Wednesday to play their sixth match of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup on October 29 (Sunday). The match will be held at the Ekana Sports City in Lucknow, where India will be facing off against England.

Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian team is entering the match with high spirits as they remain undefeated in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Currently, India is leading the tournament's standings with 10 points and a strong net run rate of +1.353.

England on the other hand are lingering in the bottom half of the table. They stand on 8th with 2 points in 5 matches.

A strong performance against title challengers 

In their previous game against New Zealand, India had put the Kiwis to bat first, making an impressive start by reducing New Zealand to 19/2 in the powerplay. However, a resilient partnership of 159 runs between Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra helped New Zealand make a comeback in the game.

Nevertheless, India made a strong comeback during the later stages, restricting New Zealand to 273 runs in 50 overs. Shami was the star bowler for India, taking five wickets for 54 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav also performed well, securing 2 wickets for 73 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj each took a wicket.

During the chase, India started off on a positive note, with a 71-run opening stand between skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Despite losing some wickets, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja guided India to a four-wicket victory with two overs to spare. Mohammed Shami was awarded the 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding five-wicket haul against New Zealand.

The Men in Blue would be hoping to showcase a similar form going into this next match. England on the other hand would be hoping to challenge the Indian team and bring a much needed confidence boost with a win against the favourites of the ODI World Cup 2023.
