[Watch] IPL 2025: Aiden Markram rattles Karun Nair's off stump after being hit for six
Karun Nair walked back after adding 15 runs to the tally.
In the ongoing Match No.40 of the IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants' batter Aiden Markram got his sweet revenge after being hit for a big six, as he dismissed Delhi Capitals' opener Karun Nair to draw the first blood.
The incident that took place in the fourth over of DC's chase saw the South African get hit over his head by the third ball of his over. However, he adjusted his pace and angle and followed Nair, who again tried to create room. The quick short ball turned and beat the bat, hitting Nair’s back thigh, and deflected onto the stumps. Nair, who had started brilliantly with 15 off 9, including two boundaries and a six, walked back shaking his head and disappointed at himself.

Earlier, Markram had contributed with the bat. Opening the innings for LSG, he provided a solid start. Taking advantage of the field restrictions, he found the gaps through covers and down the ground brilliantly. His knock of 52 off 33 balls was crucial in giving LSG early momentum. Alongside Mitchell Marsh, who contributed 45 off 36, Markram took the team to 87 without loss in the 10th over.
Delhi’s bowlers pulled things back brilliantly. Mukesh’s 4/33 included the scalps of Marsh, Abdul Samad, Ayush Badoni, and a golden duck for Rishabh Pant. Markram’s wicket too came at a crucial time, courtesy of Dushmantha Chameera. LSG eventually posted 159/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Capitals came out all guns blazing. Abishek Porel looked in good touch, bringing up his first fifty of the season off just 33 balls. His partnership with Nair gave DC a decent start. Even after Nair’s dismissal, KL Rahul joined Porel and kept the chase on track. By the end of the 15th over, DC's scorecard read 127/2, needing just 33 off 30 balls with eight wickets in hand.
