IPL 2025: Arshad Khan dismisses Virat Kohli early to leave Chinnaswamy crowd in shock
The left-arm seamer struck on the fourth delivery of his spell.
Virat Kohli was dismissed for a single-digit for the first time in the ongoing Indian Premier League season after he was dismissed by Arshad Khan during Match 14 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday, April 2.
Sharing the new ball with ex-RCB pacer Mohammed Siraj, Arshad's fourth delivery, a short-of-a-length delivery, was pulled straight to Prasidh Krishna at deep backward square leg. Kohli seemed slightly cramped on the pull, probably being the reason why he could not really roll his wrists to keep the shot along the ground.
With the way Kohli had kickstarted IPL 2025, there were a lot of expectations from him heading into this game. The crowd at the Chinnaswamy was understandably left in stunned silence after Prasidh pouched the straightforward opportunity in the deep. Kohli's wicket was the first one to fall for RCB.
Four deliveries later, Siraj struck to get rid of Devdutt Padikkal. A fiery incoming good length delivery around off stump beat the inside edge of the bat to strike timber. The left-handed batter was dismissed for four off three deliveries.
The third wicket to fall was that of Phil Salt. Siraj made a mess of the stumps yet again. The right-arm speedster came back wonderfully well after a gigantic 105-metre maximum by the top-order English batter. The hosts ended the powerplay on 38/3, with GT firmly in control of proceedings.

Earlier in the evening, the Shubman Gill-led GT won the toss and elected to field first. While RCB were unchanged from their previous game, Kagiso Rabada was out due to personal reasons. Interestingly, it was Rabada's replacement who struck first to dismiss the former RCB skipper for a low score.
