Delhi Capitals (DC) have won their first game of the season by beating the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. With six runs to win and one wicket in hand in the last over for DC, LSG might have thought the game was theirs. However, it was Ashutosh Sharma's day today, as he scored an unbeaten half-century and also hit the match-winning six, in what turned out to be the most successful run-chase for DC in IPL history,
Meanwhile, in between the second innings, a light-hearted moment took place when Kuldeep Yadav came out to bat. In the second ball of the 18th over, Ravi Bishnoi bowled a back-of-length delivery, and Kuldeep missed it. The ball went to wicketkeeper and LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who tried to hit the stumps, but just then, Kuldeep lost his balance while still managing to keep himself grounded inside the popping crease. So, Pant playfully pushed him off the crease and dismantled the stumps in a fake attempt of stumping dismissal. The video of the moment went viral on social media.

LSG skipper and IPL's highest buy, Rishabh Pant, failed to impress with his performance, both with the bat and the gloves. In the first ball of the 20th over, he missed a stumping of Mohit Sharma, which could have been the end of the game. This simple mistake by the captain behind the stumps certainly cost LSG the game.

This game was a thriller and kept the audience hooked to their seats until the last over. LSG scored 209 runs in the first innings, thanks to terrific half-centuries of Mitchell Marsh (72 off 36) and Nicholas Pooran (75 off 30). When DC came in to bat, they were 113/6 at one point. From there, the middle-order batters closed the game for the team.
A brilliant cameo from Vipraj Nigam (39 off 15), a solid knock from Tristan Stubbs (34 runs off 22), and a mindful knock from Ashutosh Sharma (66* off 31) were the reason behind this victory. It will be a forgettable match for Pant, but the Haridwar-born would hope to bounce back stronger in the upcoming games.
