During the ongoing IPL 2025 fixture between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur, a boundary hit by CSK all-rounder Rachin Ravindra caused an unfortunate injury to one of the PBKS cheerleaders.

The incident occurred during the visiting team's chase of a 220-run target when Ravindra smashed a short ball from Marco Jansen to the mid-wicket fence with power, but the ball hit a cheerleader seated with her colleagues just behind the advertising board. The woman, part of PBKS’ cheer squad, appeared to be in extreme pain as her teammates asked for immediate medical assistance.

Watch the video below:

Earlier in the evening, PBKS’ young sensation Priyansh Arya hammered a brilliant 103 off just 42 balls. The 24-year-old left-hander, who impressed everyone in the Delhi Premier League by hitting six sixes in an over, justified his hype with the joint fourth-fastest century in IPL history. Arya’s innings, laced with 7 fours and 9 sixes, single-handedly turned the game in PBKS’ favour after a shaky start from the top six.

While Arya found little support early on, Shashank Singh’s 52* and Marco Jansen’s 34* pushed Punjab to 219/6 in their allotted 20 overs. For CSK, only Ravindra Jadeja managed to maintain some control with the ball, conceding at under six an over. Khaleel Ahmed and Ravi Ashwin shared four wickets between them but finished on the expensive side.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side got off to a positive start thanks to Ravindra’s 37 off 23 balls. The Kiwi all-rounder looked in good touch, finding boundaries regularly, including the mid-wicket hit that caused the unfortunate injury. His opening partnership with Devon Conway of 61 runs was CSK’s best opening stand this season and helped the team race to 91/2 by the 10th over, with Conway and Shivam Dube at the crease.
