[Watch] IPL 2025: Ishan Kishan's controversial dismissal in SRH vs MI match sparks debate
MI won the toss and elected to field first
The 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is currently underway between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first. In the 2nd over of the match, Trent Boult provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Travis Head.
The third over was handed to Deepak Chahar, with Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma at the crease. On the first ball of the over, Chahar bowled a length delivery that angled down the leg side to Kishan. The MI wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton collected the ball cleanly, but did not show any particular reaction. Surprisingly, the on-field umpire partially raised his hand, but then suddenly raised his finger, signalling the batter out. The appeal from the fielding side was minimal, where the MI skipper Hardik Pandya made a half-hearted appeal, while Rickelton and Chahar remained largely unmoved.
Despite the silent reaction from the MI players, Kishan walked off immediately without showing any protest, trusting the umpire’s decision. As he made his way back, the opposition captain gave him a light pat on the helmet in a gesture of sportsmanship.
However, when the broadcasters showed the delivery using ultra-edge, there was no spike at all, indicating there was no contact between bat and ball.

With the league stage entering its crucial phase, both teams will be desperate to secure a victory in this encounter. For Mumbai, a win could increase their chance in the playoff race, while SRH will be looking to keep their slim hopes alive and climb up the standings.
