[WATCH] IPL 2025: KL Rahul launches monstrous six into crowd against SRH

Delhi Capitals (DC) are off to a dream start in the IPL 2025 with back-to-back wins under captain Axar Patel. Mitchell Starc's fifer and Faf du Plessis' outstanding half-century helped DC beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets. While the DC openers started off on a good note, two quick wickets brought KL Rahul onto the crease.

Playing his first game of the season, Rahul looked in form, hitting a few meaty blows off Mohammed Shami in the 11th over. The first six was a cracking shot over the deep mid-wicket. He judged the slower ball really well and hit it over the fence for a maximum. It was an expensive over for Shami as Rahul (15 off 5) hit two boundaries and one six in the same over.

Earlier in the game, du Plessis and Fraser-McGurk wreaked havoc on the SRH bowlers, giving them the taste of their own medicine. The dangerous bowling attack was taken aback by the kind of shots the Proteas batter played throughout his innings. The ace batter scored 50 runs in 27 balls, hitting three boundaries and three sixes. From the other end, Jake hit four boundaries and two sixes, scoring 38 runs off 32 balls.

SRH debutant Zeeshan Ansari claimed three wickets, making several attempts to help his team take the game home. However, he received no support from the other bowlers. For a stellar bowling performance, Mitchell Starc won the 'Player of the Match' award.

"Been a good day. All round, we were fantastic. I don't think there are too many egos in T20 cricket, you have to hang for dear life. You have to try and do things you don't normally do and find leeway against batters, nice it came off today. (On not bowling full to get Head) I've played for long enough, so I know what to do. Gotta think outside the box, even as an older player you have to bowl different balls. Glad that worked out. It's great to get into a new, young group and form new relationships with guys you haven't played with," Starc said at the post-match presentation.
